Transit Reports

Transit reports track inventory moving between warehouses, providing visibility into inter-warehouse transfers, shipping documentation, and stock in transit. These reports support multi-warehouse operations, transfer accountability, and inventory reconciliation during warehouse-to-warehouse movements.

Understanding Transit Tracking

Transit reports provide critical visibility when inventory moves between warehouses in multi-warehouse operations. These reports answer key questions:

Transit Documentation answers “What is being shipped?” with detailed transit slips showing items, quantities, serial numbers, origin and destination warehouses, and tracking references for shipping documentation.

Stock in Transit answers “What’s currently moving?” by showing items with “In Transit” hold status that have been shipped from the source warehouse but not yet received at the destination warehouse.

Transfer History answers “What has been transferred?” through complete audit trails of inter-warehouse movements including timing, quantities, users, and reference numbers for reconciliation and analysis.

Transit Workflows

Inventory Pro supports two transit workflows that generate different reporting needs:

Staged Transits (default behavior) use a two-step ship/receive process:

  1. Items shipped from source warehouse → “In Transit” hold status
  2. Items received at destination warehouse → Available at new location
  3. Transit slip tracks movement with unique ID and line item details

Direct Transits (Admin Option 507) transfer immediately without intermediate hold status, requiring only standard movement reports rather than transit-specific documentation.

See Transit Stock for complete workflow documentation.

Tips:

  • Print in large font for warehouse floor readability
  • Include barcode for transit slip ID for scanning
  • Laminate for durability during shipping
  • File with completed transfer documentation

In-Transit Inventory Reports

These reports show current stock in “In Transit” hold status between warehouses for real-time visibility and transfer tracking.

Items In Transit Report

Purpose: Complete listing of all inventory currently in transit between warehouses with aging, destinations, and tracking details.

Use For:

  • Daily in-transit inventory visibility
  • Identifying aged or delayed transfers
  • Multi-warehouse inventory reconciliation
  • Month-end and quarter-end reporting
  • Transfer accountability and follow-up

Key Information:

  • Item ID and description
  • Quantity in transit
  • Source warehouse (shipped from)
  • Destination warehouse (shipping to)
  • Transit slip ID for tracking
  • Ship date and age (days in transit)
  • Serial numbers and lot tracking
  • Shipping user and transit reference

Filtering Options:

  • By Source Warehouse: Items shipped from specific location
  • By Destination Warehouse: Items heading to specific warehouse
  • By Age: Transfers older than X days (identify delays)
  • By Item: Track specific part movements across warehouses
  • By Date Range: Transfers initiated within timeframe

Workflow:

  1. Navigate to Reports → Type: Transit Reports
  2. Select Items In Transit Report
  3. Apply warehouse and date filters as needed
  4. Review aging column for delayed transfers
  5. Follow up on aged items with receiving warehouse

Tips:

  • Run daily to track pending transfers and identify delays

Analysis Questions:

  • What items have been in transit longer than expected shipping time?
  • Which warehouse pairs have the most active transfers?
  • What is the total value of inventory in transit company-wide?
  • Are there items in transit that need expedited receiving?
