Multi-Pick Lists

Multi-Pick (or Multiple Order Picking) allows warehouse staff to pick items for multiple shipping orders in a single trip through the warehouse. This improves efficiency by consolidating picks by location rather than processing each order individually.

Location OptimizationRoutes optimized by warehouse location
Order ConsolidationGroup similar items across orders
VerificationConfirm picks per order before completion

When to Use Multi-Pick

Multi-pick is most effective when:

  • Multiple orders ship on the same schedule
  • Orders contain items stored in similar warehouse zones
  • Warehouse layout supports efficient routing
  • Order volume justifies batch processing

How Multi-Pick Works

Creating a Multi-Pick Batch

  1. Navigate to Orders → Shipping Orders → Multi-Pick
  2. Select orders to include in the batch:
    • Filter by ship date, priority, or warehouse zone
    • Check orders to include
  3. Click Generate Pick List
  4. The system creates a consolidated pick list sorted by location

Pick List Organization

The multi-pick list organizes items by:

  1. Warehouse - Primary grouping
  2. Zone/Area - Secondary grouping
  3. Location - Bin-level detail
  4. Item - What to pick at each location

Each line shows:

  • Location
  • Item ID and description
  • Total quantity needed (across all orders)
  • Order assignments (which orders need this item)

Completing Picks

  1. Print or display the pick list on a mobile device
  2. Travel through the warehouse by location sequence
  3. Pick total quantity at each location
  4. Sort picked items by order at staging area
  5. Verify quantities per order
  6. Complete individual order picks in the system

Post-Pick Processing

After picking is complete:

  1. Return to the multi-pick screen
  2. Confirm picked quantities per order
  3. Process exceptions (shortages, substitutions)
  4. Release orders for packing and shipping

Configuration

Multi-pick behavior is controlled by admin options and warehouse settings. Contact your system administrator to configure:

  • Pick list sorting preferences
  • Location grouping rules
  • Verification requirements

Best Practices

  1. Batch Timing: Group orders with similar ship times
  2. Zone Assignment: Assign pickers to warehouse zones
  3. Equipment: Use carts or bins labeled by order
  4. Verification: Double-check quantities during staging
  5. Exception Handling: Document shorts before completing
